SFD Community Libraries

The SFD operates 12 rural libraries in collaboration with the local communities in the Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Pali, Beawar, and Ajmer districts. Each library houses approximately 150 books and is managed by a ‘Library Fellow’ as part of the fellowship program. These libraries attract around 300 children per month who engage in reading and various activities.

The primary goal is to establish a place in the community and village where foundational values such as liberty, equality, fraternity, and justice are not only learned but also taught through library activities. The operation of the libraries is led by local youths (fellows) with active involvement from the community, especially children and young adults. Creative and engaging activities are used to convey educational and informational content.

The initiative also aims to disseminate information about government programs related to education and health, facilitating access to these benefits for the community. Additionally, the program seeks to familiarize the community with the educational and rural structures and collaborate with them. Efforts are made to enhance the skill development and talent of children.
