Learning by Locals

Learning by Locals is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) located in the low-income community of Okhla in New Delhi’s industrial area. Founded by Mr. Pradeep Kumar, who also established the travel company Delhi by Locals, the organization aims to educate and empower today’s youth by facilitating the development of both personal and professional skills. It provides students with essential opportunities and guidance to help them achieve their goals.

The adolescent years can often be fraught with confusion for young individuals. The pressure to make significant decisions and engage in actions with long-term implications underscores the critical need for appropriate guidance and support, which can significantly influence their futures. Any student aged 14 and above who seeks direction and values collaborative learning in a supportive environment is eligible to participate in Learning by Locals.

Currently, the center in Sanjay Colony, Okhla, conducts after-school classes for more than 70 students. The primary objective is to assist learners in refining their skills across various disciplines, including English, computer science, theatre, music, photography, and more. Over the years, a safe and conducive space has been established, enabling students to interact openly and discuss their aspirations and concerns without hesitation.

In addition, a community of like-minded individuals has been cultivated through partnerships with other non-governmental organizations, both locally and across India. This collaborative community provides ongoing support towards the shared objective of empowering young people to aspire to greatness and realize their ambitions.
