COmmunity libraries
The KidzPlanet Community Library is situated in Mahammadpur, Rajarhat, in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Originally established as an extension of the KidzPlanet School Library, it now extends its services to cater to local community children, operating from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, and every alternate Saturday. The library is staffed by four rotating library educators and primarily serves children aged 3 to 14. There are plans to broaden its collection to include literature suitable for women, youths, and other community members, with a specific focus on creating a welcoming environment for women and children.
We also run library activities in government-aided/supported primary schools in West Bengal (North 24 parganas & Kolkata district). Currently, we are working in nine such schools. Besides this, we run community library programmes for the children of migrant workers working in Brick Kilns. Through our different library activity programmes we have reached more than 1200 children.
