“Do Hath Ek Kitabh” is a small-scale endeavor led by Chanchal Singha Roy and Andaman Rao, operating under the banner of “Coastal Green Zone.”
The primary objective of this initiative is to provide storybooks and other child-friendly literature to children residing in the most remote areas of South, North, and Middle Andaman. Upon completing the reading, the children pass the books to their peers through an exchange system. Periodic meetings are held, during which the children share and discuss the stories they have read. Additionally, they are encouraged to illustrate scenes from the stories or create clay models based on the narratives.
We do not have a permanent establishment for children to gather and read. Instead, we identify a communal location where children can gather and choose books according to their preferences. They register their names, fostering a sense of accountability and self-discipline.
